Ashi Dashi
Ashi Dashi started as a creative side project in the summer of 2007. At the time there didn't seem to be a great selection of interesting socks available that fit my particular taste. So I did a little digging around and found a manufacturer and start going through the process of getting a small minimum order of socks made for my friends and family.
Since then, the hobby slowly turned into a business. I launched this Bigcartel site with a handfull of designs in late 2008 and the line has gradually grown into what you see now on the site.
These socks are made in the United States. I typically run small batches of each design as they get made to see how they do and how the design transltes into a sock. This is part of the reason that they're slightly more expensive than foreign made counterparts.
I try to work with my factory to make sure that each particular design comes out as best as possible. For instance, on some of the designs like the Lifter Baron "eyeballs" design. You'll notice that the pattern is not cut off at the heel or the toe. In most competitor's socks you'll notice that patterns get cut off wherever the heel and toe are attached.
We can't really compete with the prices some of the other well known designer brands but we do our best to try to design a unique and quality product that you'll be proud to wear or give as a unique gift to that special someone in your life.
